'The Velveteen Rabbit' by Margery Williams

A six week self directed book project, adapting 'The Velveteen Rabbit' by Margery Williams, producing a dummy book of roughs and four final spreads for presentation. Final spreads and character development concepts are featured, communicating the tone of this adaptation.

This is an unpublished narrative based, fiction, children’s picture book. The story follows a rabbit's desire to become made real and explores the themes of vulnerability, self-acceptance and existentialism. My adaptation aims to create a visually fresh sequential narrative by blending the visual language of graphic novels through framing and panels, to engage young readers, their family and carers in a sensitive and emotionally poignant classic children's story.

'The Handsomest Drowned Man' Etching & Aquatint Series

As part of my second year of BA Illustration, I've chosen illustrate a series of eight zinc hard ground etching and aquatint prints inspired by “The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World” by Gabriel García Márquez.

I've enjoyed working with traditional printmaking methods, particularly focusing on tone and how this creates atmosphere and fosters sensitivity in my images. The series consists of six A5 and two A6 zinc plates, in both portrait and landscape orientations, printed on Fabriano paper. Each print is a single plate that has been through two processes; hard ground etching for line and hatching, and aquatint to apply five distinct tonal values.

Untitled Visual Novel Game Concept

A self directed personal project for an untitled visual novel game concept, illustrated digitally, returning to my education and love of games design. Each character is inspired by a creature from medieval folklore combined with a medieval profession, existing within the game world's interior and exterior church environment the visual novel narrative revolves around.
