In response to this live brief with NEUBAU to apply an illustrative approach to producing promotional and conceptual materials for “The Underpass Project” I propose an AR (Augmented Reality) downloadable experience that highlights the history of the space and it’s construction, as well as the present cultural and tourist routes it leads to. People will interact with the experience by downloading an app and scanning on location QR codes with their phones to activate the animated illustrations that share directions and historical / cultural information.

This idea will be explored through a series of reportage illustrations, combined with imagined illustrations that will appear within the AR experience to highlight key historical moments, socially important places and environmental issues. By engaging and immersing the public in the space’s existing potential, the AR experience will function as a promotional and tourism campaign to celebrate the space in a positive light for its function, connecting Cambridge.
